INFORMATION FOR CHOIR MEMBERS AND PROSPECTIVE MEMBERS
A note regarding rehearsals:
We welcome experienced singers in the choir to our weekly rehearsals. We accept that some may not be able or want to attend every week, and in that case
we ask you to let us know when you are unable to attend so we know who to expect for seating and rehearsal planning. We do expect more regular attendance in the weeks prior to a concert, however.
We hope that members will practice at home, and come already familiar with the music, as we don't generally 'note bash' in rehearsals.
We email a rehearsal plan prior to the rehearsal every week, so that members know which music to prepare.
We rehearse on Tuesday evenings in Bittaford Methodist Chapel from 7.30-9.30pm, continuing through the school holidays
Prospective members:
We do not audition as such, preferring to invite prospective members to come along to a few rehearsals to see if the fit feels right on both sides.
New members should have experience of choral singing, a good sense of pitch and the ability to blend with other voices in their section. We also ideally like a reasonable sight-reading ability.
If you are interested in joining us, do make contact and let us know a little about your previous choral experience: please email [email protected] or call 07900 553077 (Gillian). We are a friendly and welcoming choir, but aspire to a high standard of performance!
Concert dress:
Women/non-binary: any smart black clothing e.g. smart black dress/skirt/trousers/top - any style or length - black shoes/boots/sandals (with black tights if worn)
Men: smart black shirt, black trousers - NO tie, NO jacket
Red flowers and folders (if used) are provided at each concert.
We usually sing from music stands.
